WHY CORPORATE WORSHIP MATTERS

Dear Pine Glen Alliance Church Family,

Greetings in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I trust you are well and are rejoicing daily in the goodness of God and the great privilege of knowing Him (John

17:3). Let me tell you, the greatest thing in all the world is to be a Christian!

It has been a long time since my last pastor’s letter. In fact, Shirley Lynn has asked multiple times, “Pastor, when are you going to write another letter?” Thank you, Shirley, for gently prodding me because it has been much too long!

Summer is racing along. I can’t believe it is the end of July already! As you might have guessed, the Stegeman family has been busy with a variety of different activities – lots of pool time, fishing, and plenty of yard work. We even managed to fit in a little berry picking last week. It always seems to be true that you want to do more in the summer than you have time to do it in.

This week Steph and I celebrate our 15th wedding anniversary! Marriage is a true gift (Proverbs 18:22), and I am so thankful that the Lord blessed me with such a wonderful wife.

God continues to work in a variety of different ways in our church. It is exciting to be a part of what He is doing. Just to touch on one recent ministry, back in June we were able to host another Vacation Bible School. Attendance ranged between 31-37 over the course of 5 nights. As always, it was great fun, but let’s continue to pray that the seeds of truth that were planted bear much fruit. And a special word of thanks to the many volunteers who made this ministry possible.

Allow me to mention just a few prayer requests:

  • Jerry Koontz (still at William Penn, no longer able to receive rehab treatments)

  • Shirley Ott (recovered from a bad fall last month)

  • Cari Haubrick and Jeannie McCartle (both battling cancer)

  • Our widows and widowers, and the challenges they face

  • Sunday School and the broader teaching ministry at PG

  • Church health and unity

  • Ross and Elaine Moore (serving in Guinea, West Africa)

  • Our many other C&MA missionaries serving around the globe

  • Sefin Kumar (pastor serving in Hyderabad, India)

  • Catalin Croiter (pastor serving in northern Romania, near Ukraine border)

I’m excited to announce that pastor Tomas Bencomo (serving in Mexico) will be speaking at PGAC on November 12 at 6pm. It has been several years since pastor Tomas was with us, so it will be a delight to have him once again in our midst. Please keep him and his ministry in prayer.

As I wrap up this letter, always remember that “you are loved by God and called to be saints.” If you are “in Christ”, then God has saved you from your sins, and you can spend the remainder of your life resting in the gospel, and the finished work of Christ. But let’s also remember the words of Galatians 6:9-10. “And let us not grow weary of doing good, for in due season we will reap, if we do not give up. So then, as we have opportunity, let us do good to everyone, and especially to those who are of the household of faith.”

Much work remains. The good news of the Gospel must be proclaimed (Romans 1:16-17). Let’s do all that we can to serve our Lord and Master!

With much love and gratitude,

Pastor Dan
